"To the Edge of the Plank and Back"-Page 8

So another page down, with delay, as holidays are holidays. I know that there are many things wrong and I plan to fix them in the pages to come, such as the girls face and the dialogue boxes.
Hope that you are still enjoying it/ following!

"To the Edge of the Plank and Back"-Page 7

Took me a while to get this one up, oops! This took a bit longer as I was trying to get some dates organised for when this section of the graphic novel was situated. At the moment, with some help from a good friend, I'm using the anniversary of a pirates death. I have 2 colour versions of this page but I have chosen to go with the browner tones, just to suggest that it is more of a memory than an event.

"To the Edge of the Plank and Back"-Page 5+6

Okay, so this is indeed 2 pages in one, ooh yes I'm doing something fancy with this. I have never claimed, nor will I ever do so in my lifetime, to be good at drawing boats. What I can say is that I have done some research into perspective on boats, which is only a little apparent in this piece. All that I can hope is that my idea of the pages  showing a "boat" can be seen, and I can also hope to get better at drawing these tricky things soon! What I have done is worked with gradient colouring just for a little fun.
What I really like about this design though, is that the windows are "crafted" to look like teeth, and it just adds a little bit of a character to it.
This was originally drawn to face the other direction, but I shifted the image so that it eventually worked with the font.

"To the Edge of the Plank and Back"-filler page random drawing

After finally realising that I needed another page at the start of the folder, where I am conveniently placing all of my final print offs, I realised that I needed a filler page, dun dun dun. So after some small processes I came up with this. After debating whether to put it up here, as it belongs at the START of the actual folder and not AFTER page 4, I still decided to put it up. Feel free to comment :)

What I should explain....

If you are finding that the layout isn't making any sense, when I end up putting all of the pages together they will be seen in a double spread format. I felt that I needed to note this, just in case there was some confusion about the layout or whether it felt like the story was being extended.

"To the Edge of the Plank and Back"- Character Page

This is the character page. What is different is that from this point on I will be doing basic colours, and then revisiting if I get the chance. Any comments and critical assessments is very welcome!

"To the Edge of the Plank and Back"

What do you do when you find yourself lost and away from home? This story is based around the life of Hal 'Hacker' Davis, Captain of the pirate ship "The Laughing Dutchman" who, through the series of unfortunate events, finds himself in the 'Roaring 20's'. Not only does he need to find a way back to his era, and his wife, but he also needs to defeat the monsters that have followed him into this new time. Within this story he also meets Lucille 'Lula' Davis, a rich mob-bosses daughter, who is on the run for money theft, as well as leaving a trail of deceived men behind her.
So, what is a Pirate to do when he is faced with these challenges, and all he can seemingly drink is water? Oh the dilemma!

So what's new?

Upon finishing my second year and Uni only a week-ish ago, yes it still hasn't really hit me, I came to the conclusion that I wanted to start my own project. Thus, the 'Make a Graphic Novel in a Month' idea took place. Ideally I would love to actually finish a graphic novel in a month, as  specified but, with the usual holiday antics playing up, I presume this will be a task that will turn into 'Make a Graphic Novel in a Non-Specified Amount of Time but Ensure That it will Look Like Something Graphic Novel' (I've never been good with my words). So *Tada!* the starting of "To the Edge of the Plank and Back" took place. So far I've started with 3 tones in the cover, and I wanted to do the same for the rest of it but again, what with holiday antics taking place, I've come to the conclusion that base colours will do very well at this point of time. I do plan to go back and re-tone them though but, as holiday antics go, I'll see how much time I have.
To ensure that this was like a proper project, I also took the time to find, or re-use, a small book to plan out draft pages, and also how to draw certain things *cough* pirate ships *cough* that I didn't know how to before.
So enjoy as the project unfolds, and I hope that you find this as fascinating as I have!

Welcome to my world....!

Hi to all of you reading this! So what can I really say that will get you interested in my work? Not a lot! All I can do is say, or rather write, that I am a dedicated Illustrator, Photographer and much more. You can't really trust my word for it either, so I want you to go through my work, create your own idea about me, but most of all, just enjoy all that I have to show.
